EN 14030 – GEOTEXTILES AND GEOTEXTILE-RELATED PRODUCTS - SCREENING TEST METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE RESISTANCE TO ACID AND ALKALINE LIQUIDS

During their service life the nonwoven geotextiles may be in contact with acid and alkaline liquids, which can damage them especially under specific conditions of temperature, pressure and mechanical stresses.

In the test procedure the specimens of geotextile are submerged in a test liquid for a certain time, at standard temperature. Generally sulphuric acid or calcium hydroxide are used, with contact time of 3 days and a temperature of 60 °C.

At the end of the procedure the specimens are subjected to a tensile test: the values of tensile strength and elongation at break obtained are compared with those of the control sample.
